This November marked the 2nd anniversary of UBC’s transition to Workday for both HR and Finance. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank our partners and the broader UBC community for your support this year, and share some of the progress we have made together.

 

2023 Absence Updates in Workday, Including Legislative Leave

As we head into the winter break, I want to share a preview of some of the planned changes to absence and time off in Workday for 2023, which the ISC and Central HR have been working on together.

In particular, legislative sick leave, which was added in January 2022, will be set up differently in Workday to create a streamlined approach to paid sick time off while ensuring we remain compliant with all UBC collective agreements, handbooks and policies. While there are no changes to eligibility, we are making some system updates based on direction from our partners in Central HR.

Since our formation, part of the ISC’s role has always been to support the of continuous improvement of Workday at UBC. Workday enhancements have always been a key piece of that work, but now the UBC community will have greater visibility into this work through our newly public list of enhancements.
